Solar is great, but appears to be very expensive. I know there’s other alternatives, so what off-grid resource have you found to be just as reliable for all your power needs but considerably less expensive than solar?

You gotta consider life cycle costs. What’s the cheapest way to generate power for 20 years? A generator would be the cheapest to set up, but the most expensive to keep going. Solar is just the opposite.
And you can finance solar as home-improvement (or even part of a mortgage refi). That means you’re paying low interest which is tax deductible.
In reality, there is no cheap solution, with incentives all but gone you have to bite the bullet and do it for you…that’s the reality of it.
It all depends on the weather where you live, do you have steady winds, streams or sun exposure…based on that is what your solution can come from.
